2006 Accomplishments: Auctions Program Four Auctions Completed in 2006 $14 Billion in Gross Winning Bids 1,262 Licenses Won • Advanced Wireless Services (AWS-1) • 800 MHz Air-Ground • FM Broadcast • Full Power Television
AWS-1 Auction 66 • Auction 66 represented the largest amount of spectrum suitable for deploying wireless broadband ever made available in a single auction. • The revenue from Auction 66 will nearly double the total revenue transferred to the U.S. Treasury from all previous auctions. • Total gross winning bids = $13.9 billion • 104 bidders won 1,087 licenses
2006 Accomplishments: Licensing • WTB administered over 3 million licenses • In 2006, WTB processed 524,826 applications, including: 172,810 New Licenses/Renewals/Special Temporary Authority 137,132 License Modifications 33,397 Transfers and Assignments 181,487 Other Requests (e.g., construction notifications/administrative updates)
