  2. YOU KNOW HOW TO SIMPLIFY 7(4X+3), RIGHT? • USE DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY: SEVEN TIMES 4X PLUS SEVEN TIMES 3. • 7(4X+3)= 28X+21 • BUT WHAT IF IT WAS (X+5)(X+6)?

  3. WE WOULD FOIL!! • FOIL STANDS FOR: • F=FIRST • O=OUTER • I=INNER • L=LAST

  4. F= FIRST • FIRST MULTIPLY THE FIRST TERM IN EACH PARATHESIS: • (X+5)(X+6)= X2

  5. O=OUTER • MULTIPLY THE TWO TERMS ON THE OUTSIDE: • (X+5)(X+6)= X2 +6X

  6. I= INNER • THEN MULTIPLY THE TWO INNER TERMS: • (X+5)(X+6)= X2+6X+5X

  7. L=LAST • MULTIPLY THE LAST TERM IN EACH OF THE PARENTHESIS: • (X+5)(X+6)= X2+6X+5X+30

  8. AND FINALLY…….. • ADD EVERYTHING TOGETHER……. • (X+5)(X+6)=X2+6X+5X+30= • X2+11X+30
