  1. Zimnicea A new town , new oportunities

  2. Planning The most important thing! • Many towns and cities in Europe have grown gradually and in an unplanned way over hundreds of years. But some towns have been more carefully planned and controlled as they get bigger.

  3. Say YES to the work! The town Zimnicea from Romania is an example , because after the strong Earthquake 7.2 richter scale , since 4 mars 1977, it was reconstructed from the ground. The mayor says: ”We have to rebuild until the end of the year 2.000 flats and the other 2.000 will be finished next year”

  4. Let’s get to work! Since the project of reconstruction was prepared , many people requested to work additional hours to contribute at the fast recovery of economic losses. They were determined to do everything to ensure a fast development of the town. The town will be rebuilt by the specialists according to the project . After the earthquake the specialists builders receive the responsibility to improve the building system. At the reconstruction of the town, the people have received the necessary help from different states. In another order of ideas the main work was done by the locals.

  5. So,what is the plan? It is remarkble the reliability which people gave evidence and the mood of management structures central and local in face of a disaster.For the rebuilding of the town the psichological mood of the people mobilized them in the efforts of reconstruction the town.The local communist authorities wanted to create here a new town from the ground after the plans and the urbanistic communist style .

  6. What about it? Now Zimnicea is still from Teleorman county, Muntenia, situated in the farthest point of Romania , being harbor at the Danube. Although is a small town , it is a fluvial harbor with mixt function of local importance. In the communist time , the town was strongly industrialized. It has developed factories , furniture, precast concrete,textiles and food.

  7. What is the atraction? The city has important touristic sights like the archeological site “citadel hill”. The harbor, the beaches and the lovely place for angling, the city park, the unknown hero monument , “Saint Kings” chatedral , the patrimony, and the most important sights is the Reconstruct Monument which was raised to remember the dizaster since 1977 the first and the second world war. The churches saint kings “ Constantin and Elena” “Petru and Pavel” “Mihail and Gavril”are as well important for the touristic sights.

  8. It’s important to start over! • Now after the disaster from 1977 Zimnicea is full rebuilt and ready to have visitors. Not many towns , which were involved in cathastrofae like this , couldn’t get back at the stage they were.
