  1. Do You Have to be Baptized to be Saved? DOES THE BIBLE TEACH A WATER-LESS SALVATION? Acts 10:47-48

  2. Do You Have to be Baptizedin Water to be Saved? • If water baptism is not essential to one’s salvation, why would the Ethiopian ask about water? Acts 8:26-35, 36 Philip preached to him Jesus, then we hear the “God Fearing, God Worshiping Ethiopian” say, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” • WHAT HINDERS YOU? • We can see the Bible example of what one must do in order to be Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 8:37-39, “If you believe with all your heart you may,” “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

  3. WHAT HINDERS YOU FROM BEING BAPTIZED? • WILL ONE’S BELIEF IN CHRIST AND THE CONFESSION OF ONE’S “FAITH ALONE” BE ENOUGH TO SAVE YOU? NO! James 2:19-20 • IF FAITH ALONE WILL SAVE YOU, WHY STOP THE CHARIOT? • WHY GO DOWN INTO THE WATER? • NO ONE SHOULD ACCUSE US OF BEING “WATER SALVATION-IST” WHEN WE FAITHFULLY TEACH THE WORD OF GOD!

  4. “Go and Dip Seven Times” 2 Kings 5:1-3 • But Naaman was not pleased when he heard what he MUST DO in order to be cleansed from his leprosy! Verses 11-12, “Behold I thought,” KJV • 2 Kings 5:13, 14 “If he had asked you to do some great thing, wouldn’t you have done it?” • But didn’t God have the power to cleanse him if he had only dipped 5 or 6 times in the Jordan river? • True, God could have saved him many different ways, but this is the only way Naaman was told to save himself from leprosy! “I am the way” Jn. 14:6

  5. But is Water Baptism for the Remission of Sins? • We already know that the cleansing power was not in the water! The river Jordan didn’t wash away the leprosy, Naaman’s obedience to God’s command in dipping 7 times was an act of saving faith. • We read in Acts 2:38-41, Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

  6. What about John’s Baptism? • Mark 1:4, “preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.” • Luke 7:28-30, “But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.” • TO REFUSE JOHN’S BAPTISM IS LIKE REFUSING JESUS’ BAPTISM TODAY! Romans 6:3-6, 17 • Matthew 3:7-10; Luke 24:46-47, “that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name,” • Baptism into Christ ISESSENTIAL to one’s salvation! It must be so, look at Acts 19:1-5, “and when they heard this they were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!” • Have you Obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

  7. What Did Jesus Command? • Mark 16:15-16, “He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, and he that does not believe will be condemned.” • Paul wrote,“For Obedience to the Faith”Rom. 16:25-26 • Matthew 28:18-20“Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all things that I have commanded you!” • In the light of God’s word it is difficult to understand why people trust in a “waterless salvation.” Why they believe a “Christian Life” is a life of academic pursuits or personal opinions, instead of obedience to truth. Luke 6:46, “Why call ye Me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say?”
