The Alzheimer Society • It is the leading not-for-profit health organization working nationwide to improve the quality of life for Canadians affected by Alzheimer's disease. • Since its founding in 1978, the Alzheimer Society has grown and expanded to serve Canadians. • It believes to care with respect and trust.
Guiding Principles: • Dignity and respect: To create positive conditions where the person can live without fear of shame and are given opportunity for self-determination and self-expression. • Acceptance and understanding: To accept each person with unconditional positive regard and to assist the person to continue to enjoy basic personal freedoms. The Alzheimer Society uses the Forget Me Not flower as a symbol to represent memory loss, one of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. It is also a reminder to remember people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and their caregivers.
The Alzheimer Society helps by providing information, resources, education, support and counselling about Alzheimer and dementia. Provide Service through wide network of local Alzheimer society in Canada. Alzheimer Society of Ontario with network of 37 Alzheimer Societies across Ontario provide support programs, educational resources and improve the quality of life for people living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. There is no doubt that caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease can be frustrating and difficult. But it can also be rewarding.Their aim to learn more and more about how to provide good care for the person with Alzheimer's disease.
