Housekeeping Items • I’m enjoying reading your outdoor assignments! • I checked with the City, and Nanaimo’s watershed is approximately 86% owned by Island Timberlands and 14% owned by Timber West. The City does not pay to access the water within the watershed. • There was an article in the Friday Nanaimo Daily News that it is now conclusively proven that all air pollution causes lung cancer. • We have a special guest speaker today – Janice Melvin – who will be telling you about her life cycle analysis of the only green roof on campus, and she has brought along some people to listen in. Janice was a student in this class about two years ago. For this week’s topic, we watched about half of “Empty Oceans: Global Competition for Scarce Resources” (http://digital.films.com/PortalViewVideo.aspx?xtid=35283)
