Quilted or Not Quilted? Absorbency Lab
Materials Materials: Paper Towel (4 quilted and 4non-quilted sheets) 2 Graduated Cylinders (250 ml) Water From Faucet
Procedures • Procedures: • Fill the graduated cylinder to 250 ml full of water. • Record the starting volume of the water in your data table. • Take the non-quilted rectangle of paper towel and submerge it in the graduated cylinder. Make sure no water spills over the side of the graduated cylinder. • Remove the non-quilted paper towel from the graduated cylinder. • Record the ending volume of water in the graduated cylinder in the data table. • Subtract the starting water volume – ending volume. This is about how many mL of water the paper towel held. • Repeat 1-6 for two more trials. • Repeat steps 1-6 for the quilted rectangle of paper towel.
