Project Challenge It has become apparent that your school or community is in need of a way to inform its audience about local events and issues. You have joined a team of reporters, editors and writers that will design and write a newsletter that highlights events and issues important to your school or community.
Project Challenge Tasks • Create a three or four-page newsletter in teams of four • Develop a newsletter layout and design • Conduct research, summarize, interview and survey • Write at least four news articles and two features articles • Use a journalistic style • Incorporate clip art, photos, and other graphics • Use technology to produce, revise, and publish the newsletter
Project Challenge Activities Each team member will: • assume the role and responsibility of a news reporter/writer • write one news article • co-write one additional features article

Team Roles • Managing Editor:Oversees the production of the newsletter • News Editor:Responsible for final editing of news articles • Features Editor:Responsible for final editing of features articles • Layout Design Editor:Responsible for overall layout and design of the newsletter
Evaluation • Each team's newsletter and teamwork will be evaluated according to a rubric (evaluation scale). • The rubric will be provided at the start of the project.
