Lillian Hellman Lillian Hellman Lillian Hellman was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 20, 1905. She is best known as a famous playwright of such works as The Children’s Hour, Toys in the Attic, and The Little Foxes. Hellman was blacklisted by Hollywood for associating with a known member of the communist party. With the courage and support of David Frum she was slowly reaccepted by Hollywood.
