EARLY LIFE: • Born in Wisconsin in 1887. • Second of seven children. • Received art lessons at home. • Moved to Virginia at age 15.
Education of Georgia O’Keeffe: • Studied at the Institute of Chicago (1905-06). • Studied at the Art Students League in New York (1907-08). • Her artwork was called imitative realism. • Taught art in 1915.

MIDDLE YEARS: • Met Alfred Stieglitz in 1908 at his art gallery. • He first exhibited 10 of her drawings in 1916. • Alfred was 23 years older than Georgia. • Married Alfred in 1924.
LATER YEARS: • Visited New Mexico in 1929 and loved it. • Vacationed there every summer until Alfred died in 1946. • Moved to New Mexico in 1949. • Failing eyesight forced her to stop painting. • Lived there until her death in 1986.
