We paddled along the west shore, through the weeds into Little Pickerel Lake, sighting many cranes. Then we paddled north through some weeds into the northern portions of the lake. The wind was strong from the west. We investigated the passage at the south-eastern edge of the lake, but could not get back into the main part of the lake and were forced to retrace our route.
