I am a Physical Education teacher of primary school. I started to work as a teacher three years ago at a multigrade school. At the moment I work at a multigrade school with 100 pupils. In my school there are many pupils from different cultures and countries becauseit is a village of the coast from Murcia.

  6. SHORT BIOGRAPHY I studied Physical Education of primary school and I started to work as a teacher three years ago at a big school in Barcelona, teaching Mathematics, new technologies, Geography and Natural sciences. When I finish my degree in primary school teacher I decided to continue my studies. This year I finish the degree of Pedagogy at the University of Barcelona and now I’m collaborating with GIER, a research group of Rural & multigrade schools. I studied Primary education and today I work in a Rural school with a multigrade classroom. We work with the new technologies and we are the first school in Aragon in which each pupil has his own computer such as the basic way of work.

  7. BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF MY INSTITUTION My school is a very big regional school with 500 pupils, 12 classes of primary education and 9 of infantile education. In my school, 20 % of the pupils are immigrant, 50 % are from a close neighbourhood with a low economic and cultural level. Being a regional college, the rest of the pupils come to school by bus from the urbanizations of the village. The economic and cultural level of these pupils is high. Our school has dining room where the children who need it stay to eat, previous payment of a monthly quota and a transport financed by the district that brings the children to the school from the urbanizations.

  8. BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF MY INSTITUTION My school has 100 pupils, 3 classes of primary education and 2 of infantile education. In my school, 40 % of the pupils are immigrant, from Germany, England, France, etc, with a high economic and cultural level.

  9. BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF MY INSTITUTION I work in a Multigrade school in a rural area of Spain, Aragon. My school was the first one in Spain in which pupils worked with the tablet PC. Nowadays in my school all of the pupils in 4th , 5th and 6th course have his own tablet pc. The tablet pc is a personal computer in which the pupils work all the curricular areas. We have two projects based on the use of new technologies. The first one is a digital newspaper, and the second one is a school radio. With the digital newspaper we work the writing competence of our children , and with the radio school the communicative competence. We also have an interactive whiteboard for the smaller children of the school.

  10. BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF MY INSTITUTION I was working for a three years in a big private school called IPSI in the middle of Barcelona. It has one thousand pupils and hundred teachers. It is not a multigrade school, of course. Nowadays I am collaborating with a research group of rural school called GIER in the University of Barcelona. Next year I would like to start my PhD about rural school but now I am thinking the specific topic. I hope that this summer school in Rhodes help me to do it and also improves my english level. Thank you.

  11. SPAIN´S EDUCATION SYSTEM The educational Spanish system relies on has 6 stages: • Pre-infantile; 0-3 years. Not compulsory • Infantile; 3-6 years (3 levels). • Primary; 6-12 years (6 levels). • Secondary; 12-16 years (4 levels). • High school; 16-18 years (2 levels) • University; 18-21/22 years old The education in Spain is compulsory from the age of 6 to 16 and free until the age of 16. All pupils of this age must be enrolled in school in the educational Spanish system. Infantile and primary are together in schools, secondary and high school are together in the institutes and the university is independent from both previous ones.

  12. MULTIGRADE SCHOOL IN SPAIN In Spain there are many multigrade schools, but they are gradually disappearing, because cities are bigger and small villages are disappearing. In Spain multigrade schools have some special characteristics such as: - Maximum twelve pupils in an infantile class. - Maximum fiveteen pupils in a primary class. - More money for the teachers who work at these schools. Pupils finish the university without having enough information of multigrade schools. Nevertheless, we learn every year from the experience and the relation with other teachers and it help us to improve and be more helpful for our pupils.
