OVERVIEW OF BOND/BALLOT PROPOSAL • GOALS AND OBJECTIVES • Why Now: • Critical upgrades/renovations needed • Technology improvements for 21st century learning • Inefficient buildings – 50-60 years old • Favorable interest rates • Benefits of the bond: • Improve educational opportunities • Create modern learning environment through technology • School safety enhancements • Reduce maintenance and energy costs • Equity among buildings • Cost: • $195,000,000 • 30 year millage • Projected average millage rate: 2.0 mills over life of the bond

PROGRESS TO DATE TECHNOLOGY Activities to Date • Selected Technology Designer • Completed Planning Activities: • Site visits to all buildings • Meetings with District committees: • Instructional Technology Committee • Safety, Security, Communication Committee • Administrative Technology Committee • Technology Infrastructure Committee • Meetings with Phase 1 buildings to review schematic design drawings • Drafted plans and budget for major projects (wireless, PA, security, etc.) • Identified preliminary timeline when each major project (wireless, PA, security, etc.) will be implemented • Coordination meeting with architects / engineers

PROGRESS TO DATE TECHNOLOGY Near Term Activities Present technology scope and phases to Board of Education Obtain proposals for phase 1 projects Evaluate and recommend solutions / vendors Board Committee review of initial phase of technology – March 3, 2014 Board action on initial phase – March 17, 2014 Implementation
PROGRESS TO DATE TECHNOLOGY Phase 1 Projects - Technology The following technologies are anticipated for Summer / Fall 2014 implementation at Cleveland, Coolidge, Rosedale, Frost, Cooper: • PA system • Cabling infrastructure • Phone system for Phase 1 buildings • Wireless services initial implementation • Network upgrades necessary for wireless district-wide • Sound amplification • Re-install existing video surveillance cameras and door access systems (new security equipment will be installed in 2015) • Prep for initial classroom technology (actual equipment, such as projectors, document cameras, and classroom computers are anticipated to be installed in 2015) Note – the construction scope of work includes new marker boards in classrooms
