Self-Calibration • Jaws (edge cut and high security) are calibrated in different ways. Procedures are detailed in the manual and software.
Software • The Elite includes a touch screen tablet with software already loaded. It is designed by LKP and references Framon’s Gcode data files to look up key codes.
Software • You may also elect to control the machine with our Genericode program. This is the same program many reps are already familiar with if they have sold Autocode machines.
Troubleshooting • There are a few things we ask that you keep in mind when calling for tech support – your best chance for a successful resolution will depend on the following: • The customer should call for assistance directly to us. Calling you, then you calling us and trying to relate his problem rarely works out. • Please get a WiFi connection for the tablet and keep it connected all the time. Tech support is easiest when we can access the computer remotely.
Troubleshooting • Please read the manual and have your customer read the manual. Key blanks are expensive and miscuts lead to frustration for everyone involved. Miscutting keys because the user is not familiar with the machine is easily avoidable. • Have the computer turned on (not starting up) when you call, and if WiFi is available have TeamViewer running & an access code on the screen. • TeamViewer should already be installed on the table with an icon on the desktop.

Code Cutting Basics • Basic terminology when describing keys • Relates to how keys operate and touches on basic cutting methods • Helps us when your keys don’t work!
Measuring Keys • When keys do not work a pair of calipers or a micrometer is the only accurate way to determine what adjustments might need to be made, if any.
Measuring Keys • When you suspect a problem with the machine, you first need to know where the problem is. Depth or spacing? • Since machines rarely go from working smoothly to simply not working, get a test cylinder out and cut a key for it. • If the key is cut too shallow you should see dimples at the root of the cut. Your spacing is correct if these marks are centered in the cut. • Keys cut too shallow typically turn tight. • Keys cut too deep usually click when turned. • Spacing is the culprit if the key works better when you pull it out slightly. • Although you can adjust a machine without calipers they assure the machine is set correctly.
Measuring Keys • In this example we are measuring the depth of cut, which shows .245”, right on for a Schlage key.
Measuring Keys • Calipers are handy as they can assist in measuring spacing as well. It is more difficult to measure spacing as there are no positive stops, we have to do a bit of eyeballing.
