News • 4 hotfixes to Delphi 2006 released • http://info.borland.com/06/bds/bds2006_reg_updates_down.html • Issues fixed relate to: • Building certain C++Builder apps • Integration of CaliberRM 2 SP1 • Inability to run BDS after installing UP2 • International characters in HTML editor • 2 other unofficial fixes lie waiting in the wings, one of which fixes a performance lag

  6. News • Visual Studio 2005 includes great image library • %VSInstallDir%\Common7\VS2005ImageLibrary • Vast improvement over graphics supplied with Visual Studio.NET 2003 • Included in Standard Edition and higher • Not included in Express and Professional Editions

  11. News • WinFx now consists of: • WPF née Avalon • WCF née Indigo • WCS née InfoCard • WWF née, er, I give up • WinFx will ship with Vista and work on Windows XP/2003 • But....

News • WinFx has been renamed! • WinFx is now known as .NET 3.0 • .NET 3.0 is .NET 2.0 + WPF, WCF, WWF & WCS • “The .NET Framework 3.0 is still comprised of the existing .NET Framework 2.0 components, including ASP.NET, WinForms, ADO.NET, additional base class libraries and the CLR, as well as new developer-focused innovative technologies in WPF, WCF, WF and WCS.”

  13. News • Questions and answers: • What version of the compilers are being used?.NET FX 3.0 is built on .NET FX 2.0 including the CLR and BCL. This means you will be using the 2.0 C# and VB compilers from the redist when using .NET FX 3.0. • Will .NET FX 3.0 contain LINQ support?No. LINQ support is in the Orcas product which is shipping after .NET FX 3.0 (which ships in Vista). • What directory will .NET FX 3.0 be installed to?We have been working on the naming changes in the product since the decision was made. After this is done it will live in %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\V3.0. This should hopefully be in the next public CTP we release.
