What? • What is Dementia and Dementia care? • Dementia is a severe mental illness caused by brain disease or injury that affects a person's ability to think, remember, and behave properly. • Dementia care is a specialized community of support who assist a person with dementia in managing their symptoms and it is offered by carers who are experienced and trained in caring for someone with dementia. • It is caused by brain abnormalities such as aberrant protein buildups known as amyloid plaques and tau tangles.
