Arterial ITS in Gwinnett County Introduction • Gwinnett County identified the need to expand it’s ITS capabilities as part of the 2001 Comprehensive Transportation Plan. • Expansion of ITS was seen as a method of improving the safety and efficiency of the County’s road network. • Revenue from SPLOST was designated for ITS projects and the development of a modern Traffic Control Center.

Arterial ITS in Gwinnett County Conclusions • Gwinnett County identified the need to expand it’s ITS capabilities in 2001. • Significant progress has been made in 11 years. • Additional funding and staff will be necessary to effectively maintain the ITS network and facilitate continued expansion.
