Reducing the Risk • How can we reduce or control risk? • 1. Keep your vehicle in top condition. • Brakes • Tires • Windows clean • 2. Anticipate the actions of others. • Drive defensively • Predict behaviors of other drivers, be able to act and react • Must watch for clues (turn signals)

Drive only when you’re in sound physical and mental condition. • Alert and clear headed • Concentration and no daydreaming • 5. What are the foundations of effective driving? • Using your senses to hear and see. • Search for information (signs, markers and surrounding traffic) • Apply knowledge you have learned and utilize experience to make good choices. • Using your driving skills will help you to get to your destination with the least amount of risk.
