GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS • Language Arts 4 ½ units • Mathematics 4 units • Science 3 units • Social Studies 3 units • Health ½ units • Physical Education ½ units • Electives 5 ½ units One Elective unit must include coursework in Fine Arts.
ELIGIBILITY • Students must have received passing grades in a minimum of five one-credit courses or the equivalent. • Ninth grade students must maintain a GPA of a 1.8 • Tenth-twelfth grades must maintain a GPA of a 2.0 All requirements must be made in the grading period immediately preceding the activity in which the student is participating.

WHAT IS A GPA?Grade Point Average –noun Education. a measure of scholastic attainment computed by dividing the total number of grade points received by the total number of credits or hours of course work taken. AT BHS THE CUMULATIVE GPA IS ONLY COMPUTED AT THE SEMESTER. JANUARY/JUNE
HONORS DIPLOMA CRITERIAMust meet seven of the eight • Four units of English • Four units of Mathematics at least Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry and another high level course or a four-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent content • Four units of Science including Physics and Chemistry • Four units of Social Studies • Three units of one Foreign Language or two units each of two Foreign Languages • One unit Fine Arts • Maintain a GPA of a 3.5 UNWEIGHTED • Obtain a composite score of 27 on the ACT or an equivalent composite score on the 1210 SAT
ACADEMIC AWARDS • Summa Cum Laude 3.75 – 4.0 + GPA Highest Praise • Magna Cum Laude 3.5 – 3.749 GPA Great Praise • Cum Laude 3.0 – 3.499 GPA Praise AT GRADUATION THE TOP TEN SCHOLARS OF THE CLASS ARE RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT.
