How does the Sun give us light? The Sun gives its own light from burning, boiling and bubbling gases. On Earth, we see the Sun moving across the sky because Earth is rotating around itself while orbiting the Sun , causing day & night and the 4 seasons to happen.
The Sun and the Stars The Sun is the largest star in our solar system. If you look at the sky on a clear night, the North star (Polaris)can always be seen in the same spot, which tells you which way points north However, at different times at night, the other stars can be seen to rotate. This is because the Earth rotates around itself.
People used to believe - Sun and stars spin around the Earth.- NOT TRUE!
The Earth Spins The Earth spins around itself, taking one day for a complete turn. Everything around the Earth also spin, including the Moon.
The Moon Earth’s gravity pull keeps the Moon in orbit around it. Astronauts take 3 days to reach the Moon with their fast spaceships. It takes 27.3 Earth days (about 1 month) for the Moon to complete its orbit.
