The School Vicente Cano is a public School belonging to the Spanish Government and under the counselling of Education of Castilla La Mancha The Studies and subjects are taught under the Spanish Law of Education of 2006. We start the new school year 2010/11 with the enthusiasm to continue with the already started projects and the proposal of some other which allow the Educational Community to take part in the tasks of education and learning. Our goal is going on with the Coexistence rules, Organization and Functioning (NCOF) and the Educational Project (PE). All these in the framework of the Royal Decree of Education (LOE) and the new Law of Education in Castilla La Mancha.
Our school, has just finished a reinforcement, counselling and supporting Plan for our students (PROA), and we start a third year in the School success improvement Program (PMEX)in association with the primary schools in the village so we are allowed to count on more resources to do more activities, like the use of Information and Communication Technologies and School Educational Projects like Comenius.
School Characteristics • In November 2000 the School Building was completely finished and became an independent School, (formerly a section depending of another School) able to hold the four levels of Secondary Compulsory Education according to the Spanish Law of Education. • There are also two levels of “Baccalaureate”. There are 430 students in the school, who basically are Spanish natives. There is a demand of schooling by immigrant students who come from Eastern Europe.
The teaching Body and the activity in the School. There are 49 Teachers in the school this year 2010/11. Our School is very concerned about coexistence in the School environment. In 2007 we were awarded with the 1st Regional Coexistence Award. The Association for Student’s Mothers and Fathers of the School is also integrated with the school life and it means a bridge between Families and the School Vicente Cano. The extracurricular activities are fruitful, thanks to the teachers’ commitment and the educational administration through the program PMEX.
Projects and programs in the school • All the projects and programs which have been developed in the school are observed by the PMEX and these are the following: • Coexistence Plan: Welcoming day for new students in the first year; Helping student (conflict mediator)program; coexistence contest; democratic tailoring of classroom rules. • Coordination with the primary schools in the village. • Other activities: Radio broadcast, Orchard; Educational exchange with a French school.
