  5. JD & LLM STUDENT NETWORK • NEW this year! • Purpose: to promote more integration between the LLM and JD student body • First Event: Networking Lunch Thursday, September 24th12:45PM to 2PM in Room 1270

  6. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION • 3 LL.M. representatives to be elected to SGA:- American Law or IP Law (1), Banking & Financial Law (1), Taxation (1) • Election Date: Thursday, Sept. 10th • Contact Ling Kong, lk2010@gmail.com, if interested in participating.

SPORTS AND RECREATION Important Tips:  Physical Education courses count towards the 18 credit limit (per semester).  All physical education courses should be audited, not taken for credit.  Supplemental fees may apply for equipmentusage. Team sports opportunities are available! Visit the FitRec website, http://fitrec.bu.edu/

  8. EXAMSOFT • Students may take exams on laptops. • Examsoft must first be loaded onto your computer. • Deadlines will apply to become registered and approved to use your laptop - - we will keep you informed!

  9. RESEARCH & WRITING SEMINARS • Section assignments to be released later this afternoon! • You may switch seminar assignments only if you have a course conflict. • You must find another student to switch places with you, should you have another reason for wanting to switch seminars. • In either case, e-mail me directly if a change is needed, mcbridea@bu.edu

  10. REQUIRED TRAININGS • All new students are required to attend mandatory library and research trainings. • You will be assigned to trainings based on your Research & Writing seminar sections. • Any visiting exchange or IP Law students not taking a R&W seminar will receive separate training section assignments. Trainings:Arranged by R&W Section  Library Orientation Tour  Lexis Nexis  Westlaw ALL Sections Will Attend Together  Introduction to Legal Sources:September 11th, 3PM, Room 620 ERC Writing Workshop: Date and Location TBA

  11. BOOKLISTS & PRELIMINARY ASSIGNMENTS • Booklists for the fall semester are now available online via LLM Central • Preliminary assignments will be posted to the course websites • Course Info (Blackboard 4) vs. Blackboard 8

HOW DOES ADD/DROP WORK? • Add/Drop period is from Monday, August 31st through Tuesday, September 15th. • Visit classes and make all final changes to your schedule no later than Tuesday, September 15th. • Note: you must attend the first class meeting for all seminars -- and sign the attendance sheet -- due to enrollment limits. • Attend ALL classes you may be interested in taking; you are responsible for ALL assignments and readings during Add/Drop. • Add/Drop and Audit forms are available at OGIP once you’ve made your final course selections.

GETTING STARTED • Monday, August 31st- First day of classes- Photos in the Law Auditorium lobby, 9AM to 1PM • Tuesday, September 1st- First-Year Classes Suspended; Upper-Class Courses to be held*First Year Courses: Civil Procedure, Contracts, Torts • Friday, September 4th- Follow a TUESDAY schedule of First-Year Classes - Follow a FRIDAY schedule of Upper-Class Courses • Monday, September 7th- LABOR DAY – NO CLASSES! • All Research and Writing Seminars will begin the week of September 7th
