Math • Envision Math & Common Core Standards • Access book online • Topics: • Place Value • Multiplying • Dividing • Numerical Expressions, Patterns, and Relationships • Volume, Units of Measure, Data • Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Fraction and Mixed Numbers • Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Decimals • Geometry

  4. English/language arts • Treasures series & Common Core Standards • Access book online (coming soon) • Topics: • Making inferences • Main idea and details • Idioms and adages • Quote accurately from a text • Compare and contrast • Write narratives and informative texts

  5. AR – Accelerated Reader • Reading levels and point goals will be assigned soon • 20% of Reading grade • Point goal is based on reading level • Students should read at home at least 20 minutes per night • Tests ONLY taken at school • Test must be passed with 60% or better

  8. Homework • Stress importance of homework at home • Important to practice skills learned in class • Written in agenda and posted on website daily • Homework is practice, students should be allowed to make mistakes

  9. Communication • Agenda • Website • Thursday letter (Parents’ Thoughts) • Email (easiest way to reach us) • Phone (hardest way to reach us) • Written notes

  10. What you can do at home • Review math facts at home • Typing skills (10 min/day – 6 weeks) • Sign and return Thursday letter • Check/initial agenda daily • AR Reading nightly for 20-30 minutes

  11. Before you leave • Sign up for parties • Limit 3 volunteers per party • If you can help in other ways, please note that • Handouts • Spanish • Art • PTO is looking for a liaison for each classroom. If you’re interested, please talk to your child’s teacher.
