Advance Discoverer Training Topics • Conditional Formatting • Stoplight Formatting • Using Calculations to create special fields • Examples • FSC • NIIN • 55 GL DM • Using the advanced feature of a Condition • Correcting Errors
Conditional Formatting…… • …….is a tool that can be used to highlight certain data values within a column of the report. • An example of how this could be useful is…. • ….in an inventory report you can have expiration dates highlight in a color so you can quickly identify those items that are expired or about to expire.
Stoplight Formatting… • ……is a tool that can be used to highlight certain data values within a column of the report. It is different from Conditional Formatting because you can identify three values to highlight in different colors. • An example of how this could be useful is… • in a re-order report you can have a values set to indicate that the inventory does not need to be ordered and it will be highlighted in green.
Stoplight Formatting (cont.)…. • The next value would be those items that are getting low but do not need to be ordered immediately. Those will be highlighted in Yellow. • The final value would be those items that are really low and need to be re-ordered . These would be highlighted in red.
Creating Special Fields…..…..Using Calculations • The Calculation function of Discoverer can be used to create specific fields that are not in the database. • Another use for a calculation is to combine fields from the database to create a new field.
Example 1 Creating a field to show a particular part of a database field but not the entire field examples: FSC or NIIN
Example 2 Using a Calculation to combine fields from the Database. example: 55 GL DM Before: After:
Using the advanced feature of a Condition The advanced button on a condition will allow you to create conditions that are more complex. It would allow for multiple and/or type conditions within one condition.
Correcting Errors…. • ….sometimes when creating repeats you get an error when you attempt to add fields to a report that you are creating. Other times you get errors when you are attempting to open a report that you have used before. • Typical errors: • Join Configurations • Item not found in EUL • Item dependency not found in EUL
