Objectives • The beginning of a “conversation” • the building of a local IPPC community • Knowledge: • The need for information exchange • National reporting obligations • Benefits of reporting • Recognize importance of transparency

Objectives cont. • Communications cont. • Methodology • Traditional: meetings, posters, pamphlets, press • Newer; e-mail, TV, videos, social media, radio, FFS, plays/festivals, “ambassadors” • Establish a national action plan • Agreed actions for the duration of the project • information exchange • communication • Agreed milestones / deadlines
Development • On completion, participants should be capable of the following: • IPP: find information, reporting national obligations, understand how different individuals in their NPPO and in partner organizations contribute to the NPPO’s information exchange activities • Enter official phytosanitary information on the IPP • Development of a national action plan
Implementation • Upon return to work place, participants and their NPPOs should: • Adjust, if necessary, and submit the agreed action plan to the Secretariat • Carry out the activities identified in their action plans • Deadlines / milestones • Improve their national information exchange programme
Impacts • Workshop results: • Increased awareness of IPPC and national reporting obligations • Increased transparency: • access to information necessary for safe trade • greater understanding of impact of actions • increased awareness and cooperation n achieving objectives • Increased access to pest information • Spread of plant pests reduced • Protected food security and livelihoods • Safe (phytosanitary) trade • Protected biodiversity and environment (including agricultural ecosystem)
