Nomination Process • Competitive Nomination Process • MUST be Nominated by the School’s Nominating Official • Competitive Screening Process • Check with School on the Deadlines*
Assessment Process • NO Letters of Recommendation • Rigorous Assessment • Analytical Problem Solving • OPM Leadership Competencies • Written Communication • Objectively Scored Assessment in January • Notified as Finalist in February
Appointment • Official Announcement of Selection as Finalist • Completion of all Graduate Degree Requirements • Completion of Background Investigation • One year (12 months) to become Appointed
Appointment • Initial Period is 2 years • May be approved for an extension of 120 days OR an extension of 1 year • Initial Appointments at levels GS-9, GS-11, or GS-12 • Minimum Step 1 rate • Promotion to GS-13 is possible
