  1. Welcome to Mr. Hart’sAP Psychology Class September 5th, 2006

  2. COURSE PHILOSOPHY: • This course is designed as preparation for the AP test in psychology. It follows the College Board guidelines concerning topics covered in the examination. These guidelines, as well as practice tests and other valuable AP materials, can be found on the College Board website: • Link to the AP College Board website for AP Psychology

  3. TEXTBOOK TO BE USED: • Morris, Charles G. and Albert A. Maisto. Psychology: An Introduction. Upper Saddle River, New Jersey: Prentice Hall, 10th or 11th ed. • The textbook also has a very useful accompanying website where students can test themselves, answer sample essays, download PowerPoint presentations, and quite a bit more. In addition to the reading it will be important to constantly be utilizing this website as we move from chapter to chapter: • Link to the Psychology: An Introduction textbook website

  4. HOMEWORK AND OTHER ASSIGNMENTS: • Homework is to be done every night. • Homework and a chapter outline should be ready to be turned in at the beginning of class together as a portfolioon the day of the chapter test (see cover sheet). • Homework lists, chapter notes, and PowerPoints, and more are are available for download from the course website: • Link to the Class Website

  5. GRADES: • You earn your grade. It is dependent on your overall points, which includes tests, quizzes, homework, class work, group work, projects and the midterm and final. • Daily work is expected, otherwise you will fall behind quickly. It is your responsibility to do the class work, group work, homework and readings. • You total grade for the class will be determined by the total number of points you earn divided by the total number of points possible in the class. • Grades will be posted in the classroom by student number after each chapter test and can also be obtained via email.
