Writing Assignment Guidelines & Expectations • All assignments are required to be completed in Microsoft Word • All assignments are required to have a cover page with your name, title of assignment and date • All assignments are required to have a reference page. • All references must be written APA style. • Review plagiarism guidelines.

  8. An “A” Writing Assignment • Content: Includes a focused topic, research question, strong thesis statement,introduction, and conclusion. Shows original thought. Develops main points clearly. The submitted paper exceeds all assignment requirements. • Organization:Internally, each section has clear organization. Transitions found between and within sections are clear and effective. • Writing Style:Appropriate to the assignment, fresh (interesting to read), accurate (no far-fetched, unsupported comments), precise (says what the author means), and concise (not wordy). • Mechanics: Essay is free of serious errors; syntax, grammar, punctuation, and spelling help to clarify the meaning by following accepted conventions. APA guidelines are followed.

  11. Document Sharing Be familiar with the doc sharing tab Shared information with the class. Items include: • Syllabus • Course calendar • Writing tips and guidelines • Articles I find that are interesting and useful in your studies Feel free to add articles and resources that you find. Websites can be added to under the webliography tab.

Discussion Board (DB) Two discussion boards • Introduce Yourself (Tell your colleagues and instructor a bit about yourself in this discussion) • What do you want to learn? • Read: • All your classmates responses and respond ing a way to advance the discussion. • All your instructors responses.

Term Project – Science Meets Real Life • Evaluate what science means to you • 1,500-word (minimum) essay in APA style format • Part I: Apply scientific method to 2 real life situations • In Part II: Why I Cannot Live With/Without Science, you will examine a typical day in your life from the time you wake up, to the time you go to bed, and describe how science impacts you and your routine throughout the day.
