  1. SFS Stochastic Flow Simulator C.T.J. Dodson and W.W. Sampson UMIST

  2. Family of Gamma Distributions representing pore radius distributions

  3. Case Study 1 Four industrially manufactured filters. One known to give different performance in high flow rate filtration application.

  4. Inputs to SFS

  5. Outputs from SFS

  6. Case Study 1 - outcome Outputs from SFS for turbulent flow, i.e. the appropriate flow regime for the application of the filters, reveal that the sample shown in red has the narrowest flow distribution.

  7. Case Study 2 Two printing papers. One yielding uniform print, the other, non-uniform.

  8. Inputs to SFS

  9. Outputs from SFS

  10. Case Study 2 - outcome Outputs from SFS for capillary flow, i.e. the appropriate flow regime for the uptake of ink by paper, reveal that the sample shown in blue has the broadest flow distribution and hence the broadest distribution of ink penetration giving non-uniform print.
