  2. Using leather conditioner In order to avoid causing damage to your briefcase's leather, be sure to wash it with a leather conditioner and not with water or other detergents. It is better to use conditioners instead of just water when you are cleaning leather. The leather conditioner should be applied with a lint-free, soft cloth dampened with a small amount of the conditioner. Clean the leather with just the right amount of conditioner.

  3. Removing sticky parts Coffee spills or soda spills may have caused some parts of your leather briefcase to become sticky. You can clean them out by dampening a cloth with a leather conditioner and gently rubbing the sticky parts of the briefcase. If you don't want it to get damaged, make sure you use a gentler circular motion and don't rub it too hard. If the leather conditioner needs to be applied to the whole briefcase, you may have to dab the cloth into it a few more times. Be careful not to overdo it when applying small amounts.

  4. The briefcase should be air drained. Clean cloths should not be used to wipe it out. To restore the leather to its original quality or form, it must be air- dried so that the leather conditioner can do its work. Make sure the leather's surface is dry and make sure you didn't miss any spots.
