Five ATM Repair Signs that an ATM Owner Must Not Ignore! www.atm-up.com
Table of Content • A worn-out card reader • Unresponsive keypad • Malfunctioning receipts • Issues with the software • Defective cash dispenser
A worn-out card reader Your ATM or credit card may have a dark stripe on the back. This is a magnetic strip containing data about the card owner and his card; it is an important feature that allows the ATM reader to verify the card. A machine's ATM card reader can wear out if it is constantly used. When this occurs, a transaction cannot be completed because the ATM reader cannot verify the users' banking information. An ATM service company can determine if the reader is in need of repair, cleaning, or replacement.
Unresponsive keypad Many new models of ATMs in the market feature a touch screen. However, there are still several ATMs which have a physical keypad that enables people to enter important information such as their pin or passcode to complete the transaction. When keypads buttons can become stuck and stop responding, ATMs are rendered unusable. This problem requires an ATM service company to attend to it since the ATM must be disassembled.
Malfunctioning receipts Paper receipts are generated at the end of a transaction to let people keep a record of their transactions. However, as is the case with every machine, they are prone to breakdowns and malfunctioning. Periodically, an ATM machine may develop an issue dispensing paper receipts. If the ATM runs out of paper, the maintenance staff could check to see if the machine is jammed and fix it. They will also check the ink levels to see if they need to replace the ink.
Issues with the software In modern ATMs, the software is what drives the system. The software can experience glitches from time to time, but repair professionals can scan for viruses, install and update software, and troubleshoot problems.
Defective cash dispenser People visit ATMs primarily for cash withdrawals. If the dispenser doesn't give out enough cash or doesn't give any money at all, customers become frustrated. They may even file a claim against the owner for the amount they were taken from their account but did not receive.
