Scoring • Generally scored 1 to 50 (low to high) • BS has scored on scale of 1 to 9 • Higher is generally better, but not too extreme • 1 is scored when legs are severely hocked in and toed out
Scoring cont. • 30 (or 6 for BS) is moderate hocking in with possible slight toe out • 40 (or 8 for BS) is close to optimum with legs tracking straight, but not directly perpendicular to ground, no hock in or out, no toe in or out
Scoring cont. • 50 is severely straight legs that are perpendicular to ground, legs may be hocked out with toes in
Data • 7 unknown parent groups with four birth years included
Calculation of Evaluations • Run in 2 steps: • First: Evaluate final score & 15 linear traits with current system • Second: Evaluate RLRV. Use only records with RLRV in 17-trait system • Allows use of correlated trait information but requirement for gross estimation not necessary • No heterogeneous variance adjustments • Only RLRV evaluations retained
Highest estimated genetic correlations of linear type traits with RLRV
Lowest estimated genetic correlations of linear type traits with RLRV
Heritability for RLRV, average difference and maximum difference from previously estimated heritabilities
Statistics from evaluations of bulls with 5 or more daughters
