  5. Single Parent Family • Only one parent is present due to separation, divorce, or death.

  6. Strengths of Single Parent Family • Children become more resourceful and independent • Parent and child may develop a closer, more cooperative relationship

  7. Challenges of Single Parent Family • Resources may be limited • One parent must meet all the needs of the children • Children may need to share time between two parents • Children may feel responsible for break-up of parents’ marriage
