New York State Office of Emergency Management • 212,282 state personnel from 23 agencies during peak deployment • National Guard deployed 724 from 10 states • Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) – 22 states sent 1,127 personnel • 1,061 volunteers from 29 states assisted in response and recovery. SR2 Truck used as a Cell Phone charging station in Long Beach, NY

  10. In Response to Hurricane Sandy, New York State was assisted by several organizations, including the American Red Cross in establishing 147 shelters in impacted regions sheltering approximately 29,364 people.

  13. Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (STEP) program • Enables families to remain in, or return to, their homes, as a form of shelter while permanent repairs are completed. • 11,531 repairs completed to 12,801 eligible properties in NYC and Long Island
