Council of Jerusalem: Luke(Acts 15:1-35) • Converted Pharisees were imposing Jewish laws (circumcision) on the faith community • Paul and Barnabas sent to clear up disagreement • Christians are saved by faith alone • No more need for Jewish ritual laws • Luke’s compromise: Refrain from: • Idolatry (summary 1 Cor 10) • Blood (Gen 9:4; Lev 3:17; 17:10-14) • Meats of strangled animals • Sexual Immorality (1 Cor 10:7)
