Introduction • When Tara Lipinski got into ice-skating, her mom wasn’t exited. Actually, she wanted Tara to be bad at it so she wouldn’t ice-skate. Sure enough, Tara loved ice-skating and she was good at it too.
Tara Is Born • Do you know when Tara Lipinski was born? She was born June 10,1982 in Philadelphia, PA. Her parents’ names are Jack and Pat. Tara’s father worked at an oil refining job and her mother didn’t work. She was an only child.
When She Was Little… • She started doing tricks on roller blades when she was 3. Finally, she ice-skated for the 1st time when 6. She got 1st at the Roller-Skating Nationals when she was 9.
Time To Move • Tara’s dad got promoted to Huston, TX. Her feeling changed and continued roller-skating at a shopping mall since there was no where else to practice. Tara’s coach Megan Faulkner told Tara that she deserved more than what she was getting in TX. The Lipinski girls were going to move to Delaware.
Got Some Smart tutors • In TX, she went to a private academy and when she moved to Delaware, they decided that they moved too much and needed to get a tutor. Now, she is 21 and she will be going to college, but doesn’t know what to study for.
A Lot Of Training • When she was in PA, she had to wake up at 3 in he morning to practice. In TX she woke up early for school and practiced in the middle of the night. Then in Michigan, Tara got to practice right after schooling.
Career as an amateur and her accomplishments • Her 1st time as an amateur was 1981 at a Regional meet. She also went to Too Hot To Skate in California and made the jr. World team in 1995. In 1989 got 2nd place in a Regional meet.
Tara’s Career and her accomplishments • In 1997 she went to the U.S. Nationals and she went to the Worlds in that same year. Then, she went to the World championship and she also went to the Nationals in 1998. In 1997 she was the U.S. champion. Then, in 1997 she was the World champion!
Favorites of Tara’s • Her favorite athletes are Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Tara’s favorite character is Snow White. Tara collects beanie babies and frogs. Her favorite colors are blue and purple.
