  3. Feng Shui Feng = wind Shui = water The practice of Feng Shui originated in China over 3,000 years ago. Feng Shui is a very complex art that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.

  5. The Mind The mind is an organ with roughly 50–100 billion neurons which have cells that pass signals to each other via approximately 100 trillion synaptic connections.

  6. Cerebrum (also called the cerebral cortex or just the cortex Neurons share the same characteristics and have the same parts as other cells, but the electrochemical aspect lets them transmit signals over long distances (up to several feet or a few meters) and pass messages to each other.

  7. The Mind The mind requires a lifelong plan: at random intervals during each and every day, one should increase neuron usage to activate memory.

  8. If you are a techie, try to write a philosophical paper on Socrates. If you are a writer and aren’t very art-savvy, take a drawing class. Play a game of memory, spelling, or boggle. Listen to how many different bird calls you can hear in a park. Examples

  9. These types of exercises will increase the usage of neurons to be used when they are typically ignored or undeveloped. Reminder: You might not be good at it but that does not mean you can’t do it. The reason? To keep ALL parts of the mind active and functional.

  13. The Body • The body is mostly made up of water. There are basic systems that include muscular, skeletal, digestive, lymphatic, endocrine, nervous, and cardiovascular. • Each system needs some form of maintenance in order to be healthy.

  14. How well do you know your body? Guess: The only bone in the human body that is not connected to another bone is the__________ bone. The hyoid bone! It is a U-shaped bone at the base of the tongue. It is supported by the muscles in the neck, but it is not connected to any other bone.

  15. The Body Wellness of one’s body requires proactive maintenance versus reactive maintenance. • Cardiovascular, muscular • Exercise • Yoga and Pilates • Digestive • Milkshakes or healthy protein?

  16. Exercise and Eating • Exercising = becoming one with your body • Eating = an extension of becoming one with your body.

  17. Feng Shui and Wellness Ones body is like rooms or floor-plans: • There are different areas that perform different functions. • When a body part is not functioning well, it affects the whole body.

The Feng Shui Application • The principles of Feng Shui are meant to be practiced continuously and are founded on the most primitive functions and actions of our planet. • Care should be taken to learn how to interact with not only your body and your mind, but additionally the world around you.

  20. Feng Shui everything! • Space clear • Clean • Design • Organize • Maintenance • Revitalize

  21. Space Clearing • Move everything that can be moved out • Reassess walls, paint, lighting, flooring, or all systems of mind and body • Need fresh coat? • Repair? • Attics, crawlspaces, file cabinets, or all random insignificant worries on your mind should be emptied.

  22. Clean It • Open everything • Crawlspaces, doors, appliances, as well as your entire body • Use antibacterial cleaners for every surface • Leave it sit clean for a day

  23. Design It • Entertainment or Sanctuary

  24. Organize • Organization yields better results if done proactively rather than reactively. • Have a place for everything before it gets stuffed somewhere.

  25. Maintenance • Monthly, Yearly • Get everyone involved • Be active • Safety and security • Use your own preferences • Accentuate areas where you would like to see the most change

  26. Revitalize It Never be finished becoming at one with your mind, body or home! Everything in the world changes, why ignore anything?

Remember • Exercise both your body and your mind. • Design using your own preferences, not entering with pieces or ideas according to a culture that you wouldn’t buy or like once its initial implementation wore off. • Accentuate areas according to Feng Shui principles, but know it might not necessarily transform our lives. • Big changes can come from small steps!
