Jennifer Anderson Illinois-RCC No Frills 2007University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
About Me • Sophomore double majoring in psychology and public relations • Hometown: Bushnell, Illinois • Anticipated Graduation Date: May 2009 • Fun Facts: • Favorite color is purple • High school graduating class of 37 students • My brother and I share the same birthday, different year
Strengths/ Weaknesses • Strengths • Motivated • Reliable • Knowing when I need help and being able to ask for help • Time management • Communication • Weaknesses • Inexperience as RCC • Unfamiliar with position • Quiet at first
RCC • Why do I want to be RCC? • Feel that I can represent the sub-region • Love stepping up to challenges • Love representing SIUC and Illinois, and would like to represent GLACURH • I’m passionate about Residence Life and its future • Want to represent our GREAT region!!!!
My Experience • NCC for Southern Illinois University Carbondale • April ’06: Stepped up and took the position • No Frills 2006- Hosted by SIUC • Registration committee • IRHA 2006 • NACURH 2006 • Organized travel accommodations to California as NCC • GLACURH 2006 • Contacted two other IL universities to discuss transportation • Co-wrote and presented SIUC Medium School of the Year Award
My Experience, Continued • IRHA 2007 • Preparing delegation of 14 • IRHA & GLACURH Business Meetings • Have attended every business meeting concerning IRHA & GLACURH since being in office • Includes SBM & Semi-Annual Business Meeting (IRHA)
Personal Goals • Represent our sub-region to the best of my abilities by fulfilling and exceeding my duties as RCC • Develop leaders within my sub-region and region • Make a difference in the lives of others • Insuring effective communication between RBD and affiliated schools • Welcome new student leaders • Successfully balance my involvement between academics and work • Communicate effectively with everyone
GOALS for GLACURH • Improve intents and bids for RBD positions • See it as a problem that no one is wanting to bid for positions • As RCC, provide information needed to CC’s in order to understand positions of RBD • GLACURH Recruitment • Work with CC’s and RBD on recruitment new schools into our region • Invite schools not affiliated to conference
GOALS for GLACURH • CC’s time with delegation • Suggested during pro/con of GLACURH 2006 • Was chosen as a topic we need to look further into • As a NCC, know that it is disappointing not to be able to spend time with delegations at conferences • Understand CC’s are in business to represent schools and attend business, but should be able to corporate some “CC” time
Other Obligations • School: 15 credit hours • Work- University Housing; no more than 10hours/week • Work with Housing Administration (Association Directors and the Director of Housing) • Has given me an inside perspective to University Housing and the importance of the relationship between administration and the residents
