  2. CSU: a majorhealthproblem? Considered a frequent disease, its prevalence has been reported from less than 1% to over 10%, and it is estimated that 20% of the population will suffer an urticaria episode sometime in their life. In children, the prevalence was reported to be around 5%. • Zuberbier T, Asero R, Bindslev-Jensen C, Canonica GW, Church MK, Gimenez-Arnau A, Grattan CEH, Kapp A, Merk HF, Rogala B, Saini S, Sanchez-Borges M, Schmid-Grendelmeier P, Schunemann H, Staubach P, Vena GA, Wedi B, Maurer M. Diagnosis and treatment of Urticaria and Angioedema: A WorldwidePerspective. WAO Journal 2012; 5: 125–147. • Pite H, Wedi B, Borrego LM, Kapp A, Raap U. Management of Childhood Urticaria: Current Knowledge and Practical Recommendations. Acta DermVenereol 2013; 93: 500–508.

  3. Why a CSU Registry? • To date, little work has been done to determine how a chronic disease registry could improve its management in practice. • Computerized registries could offer the possibility to identify both common characteristics but also differences on the magnitude of the illness and its natural history, severity and quality of life involvement, and efficacy of recommended treatment with its undesirable side effects.
