  1. Hear Ye! Hear Ye!Taxation without Representation Whereas the following acts were passed upon us without our agreement: The Stamp Act The Sugar Act The Townsend Acts The Intolerable Acts We the people of the Colonies of North America, do solemnly propose a Boston Tea Party to express our displeasure.

  2. The Stamp Act • The Stamp Act is a important document. • Stamps were put on most legal documents. • When the item was paid the item would be stamped • The 13 colonies were the first to have taxation • The colonies boycotted items that were stamped

  3. The Sugar Act • The Sugar act stopped colonist from importing goods from anywhere, but Great Britain • The Sugar Act caused the colonist to bring goods into the colonies secretly to avoid paying taxes. • The British Prime Minister, George Greenville, set up new courts to search warehouses, ships, stores, and even homes for goods they suspected might be a smuggled.

  4. The Townsend Acts • The Townsend Act was passed in 1767 • The Townsend Acts were laws designed to raise to be use in part to support colonial governors, judges, customs, officers, the British army in America. • These Acts’ duties was less violent then that stirred by the Stamp Act, but it was nevertheless strong.

  5. The Intolerable Acts • The Intolerable Acts were passed by the British King, King George III, because of the Boston Tea Party. • The colonist first had to pay for all the tea dumped in the Boston Harbor. The ports were also closed till they paid for all the tea. That was a serious issue because all their food and supply went through the ports • Thomas Gage was in charge of Massachusetts because Massachusetts lost its self government.

  6. The Boston Tea Party • The Boston Tea Party was caused by the Sons of Liberty disguising themselves as Mohawks (an Indian tribe). • The Sons of Liberty boarded a ship full of tea and got out some axes, and started chopping boxes full of tea, and dumped the tea in the Boston Harbor. When the news got to King George III and Parliament, they were furious! • King George and Parliament thought they should be punished and that is how the Intolerable acts were passed.

  7. Editorial Colonist shouldn’t follow the acts passed by the Intolerable, King George III! We came here for freedom and what we are dealing with is not freedom. What is the point of coming here when what you ran away from has followed you here??? Can anybody out there answer this question??? What an injustice!!! Why should we listen to the King? He is miles away and we decided to come here not under his permission!!! He never said a thing about whether we can come or not!!! We never had a representative there in England to represent us. We as the colonies never agreed to this injustice. The acts were placed on us not them in England, we have a right to approve it or object it! Come be a patriotic with me! Stop these injustice, unthinkable, and not approved Acts!
