2. Supplies • Binder (1 ½ inch or larger) • 8 tabs • Loose leaf paper • Pencil or pen (not red) • Optional: colored pencils

6. Daily Procedures • Enter classroom quickly, quietly, and on time. • Sit in assigned seat. • Take out the class supplies and put everything else away. This is the time to sharpen your pencil or throw away trash. • Work on bell work. • Follow teacher instructions.

9. Earth Science Lab Fee • $5.00 per semester • Pay when you pay for your books or in the bookstore

10. Policy for leaving the classroom • You are expected to be in the classroom during class time. • The time to use the restroom, get a drink, or go to your locker is during the passing period, during lunch, before school, or your own time. • Each student will receive up to three passes per grading period to be used in emergencies only. This includes nurse passes.

11. Assignments • Assignments are due at the beginning of class • Late policy • 1 day late = 50% credit • 2 or more days late = no credit • Absent work – It is your responsibility to find out what you missed by checking assignment calendar. Worksheets can be found in a folder in the crate. • You have one day to make up work for every day that you are absent.

12. Grading Scale • A = 100–90% • B = 89.9–80% • C = 79.9–70% • D = 69.9–60% • F = 59.9% and below • Grade is based upon total points.

13. Academic Integrity • Each student should receive credit for the work he/she has performed. The following policy will be used to help ensure each and every student is responsible and accountable for his/her own work and only his/her work. • Anyone copying answers or information will be given a zero on that assignment. • Anyone knowingly sharing answers or information will be given a zero on that assignment.

14. Do’s and Don’ts • 1. Never give another student your paper. • If you have data from a lab that another student needs, read it to him/her or watch him/her record it.

15. Do’s and Don’ts • 2. If you want to help one of your classmates. • Don’t give him/her your paper. • Don’t read your answer to him/her. • Explain to him/her concepts. • Have him/her explain concepts to you, and correct errors. • Tell him/her where to find the answer.

16. Do’s and Don’ts •  3. Keep track of your papers. • Stay organized and do not leave your papers lying around. •  4. Protect your answers when taking a test or a quiz.

17. Laboratory Rules 1.       Know the lab activity, especially safety issues, BEFORE coming to lab. 2.       Students may not work in the laboratory without a teacher present. 3.       Never perform experiments not assigned by the teacher. 4.       Never eat, drink, or chew gum in lab.  Never taste, smell, or touch chemicals.

18. 5.       Do not wear contacts lenses when chemicals are being used in lab. 6.       Before beginning: tie back long hair, roll up loose sleeves, put on required protective equipment. 7.       Keep work area clean and organized.  Clean your work area at the end of lab.

19. 8.   Report ALL accidents, incidents, or hazards to the teacher immediately. 9.       Know and follow all safety procedures.        9.1 Know the location of all safety equipment        9.2 The teacher is the only one permitted to clean up or handle broken glass.        9.3 Turn off all equipment during any school fire or other drill.
