  4. “The Land of Cockaigne” • Cockaigne is a mythical place with a lot of luxury and no harshness • These is another painting “THE ELDER” painted

BACKGROUND • PIETER BRUEGHEL was also a Pinter maker and also known for painting landscapes • His other nickname was “peasant Brueghel” • In 1559 he dropped the “H” from his name and started signing his paintings as Bruegel • He had a son • was the first in a family of Flemish painters • he settled in Antwerp but ten years later moved permanently to Brussels. • He married van Aelst's daughter, Mayken, in 1563
