How to Submit an Application • Project applicants should send their application, in one original and one photocopy, to the Programme Secretariat. • Project applicants should also send an electronic copy of the application form in Word and Excel (no greater than 3MB) by e-mail. Please ensure that the electronic version corresponds with the original! • The electronic copy should be received on the deadline. The hard copy should have a date stamp no later than the deadline. • All applications will first be assessed on their admissibility. Only complete applications submitted by the deadline and containing all signed documents will be accepted by the Northern Periphery Programme Secretariat. • As an exception, project applicants are allowed to replace blue ink signed documents in the hard copy version with a fax, scan or copy as long as there is proof of existing blue ink signatures. Things to Avoid • Exclusively research based projects • Replicating projects already supported • Excessive project budgets that are unjustified – over 1.5 MEUR • Disproportionate salary costs • Unbalanced partnerships • Inappropriate partners • Replication of roles & responsibilities among partners in the project • Incomplete applications – Complete all the sections of the application & include accompanying Declarations/ match funding statements • Missing “Partnership Agreement” after approval of project • Unclear work package descriptions
Must do • Familiarise yourself with the Programme Manual • Have research/studies in place before applying to the NPP • Define clearly products and/ or services that will be developed by the project and how they will be made viable after project support ends • Demonstrate level of demand for products and services • Justify partners from outside programme area & the EU where relevant • Demonstrate administrative capacity of Lead Partner • Address rural challenges of the NPP • Make sure that the project idea fits with the objectives of the programme • Include information & communication strategy for the project • Demonstrate added value to the programme area
Next steps • Fifth Call open since 3rd February 2010 • Closing date: 24th March 2010 • Application pack available from programme website (http://www.northernperiphery.eu/en/content/show/&tid=210) • Project decisions expected following Programme Monitoring Committee meeting on 9-10 June 2010 • Sixth call will open on 3rd of September 2010!
