Hypothesis: Will a Tetrahedral Kite Fly? • First Students had to understand what a tetrahedral kite is: • The tetrahedron kite is rather unique in the kiting world, as you will see. The tetrahedron is a 4-sided 3-dimensional shape, where each side is a triangle. If you make such a rigid structure from sticks or rods, then cover any 2 sides with sail material, you have the basic building block for this type of cellular kite.
Kite Construction 2. Next students had to carefully thread the string through the straws to connect them. Students first worked through a series of questions to construct shapes with their straws. 3. Sails were added to the structures. Then the 4 units had to be connected.
Conclusion In order for a tetrahedral kite to fly you need to put it in the right direction the wind is blowing and make sure you let go of the kite because wind pressure matters when you’re flying a kite. Rayanna-(CAS) In conclusion a tetrahedral kite flies when it is facing the direction the wind is blowing. Jacqueline (CAS) To make a kite fly you need wind and you need to know the direction the wind is going. Yes our kites did fly. Benjamin (SSS) To make a tetrahedron kite fly you need wind, direction and knowledge. Natanielle (SSS0
