  1. Miocene ridge potential, L97-30-71 Rollovers forming a series of parallel ridges within the Miocene plus associated amplitude anomalies

  2. Miocene ridge potential, L97-30-69 Flatspot within a rollover plus some updip potential within a thrusted fault block within the Miocene also associated amplitude anomalies

  3. Miocene ridge potential, L97-30-127 Updip high amplitude potential & flatspot within Miocene rollover

  4. Miocene ridge potential, L97-30-125 Possible existence of 3 Miocene ridges each showing amplitude anomalies and updip potential

  5. Miocene ridges, How do they map out ? Miocene ridge, running sub parallel to the onshore fields. Prospectivity is within the Red Series however believe greater potential in the Miocene.

  6. TZ Summary From the examples shown it is clear there is justification for extending the transition data into the onshore. This would accurately define the existence of a possible parallel ridge, even maybe up to 3 ridges. These ridge(s) appear fault controlled from deep seated thrustal complexes confined to the southeast of the survey. While it is appreciated that the Red Series is the major producing reservoir in the offshore region. It cannot be ignored that the Miocene could be a major producer in the nearshore area as it ‘shallows up’ towards the onshore fields. In addition there is also potential for an inward extension of the delta complex in the north and an eastern extension of the Erdekli structure.

  7. Summary of the Petroleum Geology • Working petroleum system • World class source rocks • Clastic reservoirs • Compression and transpression • Clear evidence of vertical migration • Local regional and seals • Good timing of migration re structure • Abundant seeps and discoveries • onshore and along Chelekin ridge • New high quality seismic gives a good indication of what lies in the unexplored strata

  8. What are WesternGeco doing in the future ?Implementation of a geological program • Phase 3 plan to extend existing offshore regional lines onto onshore down to depth of 20 seconds. Why ? • To image basement and beyond. Current seismic in offshore only just images base Miocene. • Greater understanding of deeper tectonics • Non exclusive data available to all oil companies Eastern Transition zone survey linking the onshore data with offshore grid. Why ? • Recent studies by WG/TGL indicate presence of a ridge analogous to onshore fields. • Greater understanding of source rocks and fault geometries, vital for fluid migration.

  9. Cont’d……… • Extend offshore grid into Turkmenbashi Bay. Why ? • To complete seismic coverage in an otherwise virgin area and to link up with onshore legacy data • In 2002/3 WG have completed 2 Onshore 3D interpretation & Reservoir characterisation studies for TGL • This can now be integrated with the large offshore program to provide a regional consistent geoseismic model. • Feasibility study for Pore Pressure Prediction in Western Turkmenistan. Why ? • To investigate if seismic can be used with confidence to predict subsurface pressures and to provide quality information on which to base drilling decisions.

  10. WesternGeco commitment to Turkmenistan is 100%Thankyou
