Expanding ENRS to the New Countries • Romania - Minister of Culture Daniel Barbuexpressed hiswillingness to join ENRS • ENRS invited future Romaniancoordinator to the annual meeting of ENRS assemblies; • The official response will be send by Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski to the Romanian Minister of Culture (ENRS suggestedtwodiffrentways in include Romania – newintentialagreementorannex). • Expanding ENRS Assemblies– Sandra Kalniete (Latvia) and OldřichTůma (Czech Republic).

International Symposium of European Institutions dealing with 20th Century History Maingoals: exchange experiences, establish methods and forms of cooperation between institutions from different countries; support the preservation of the European memory of its past; strengthen an international dialogueon the European culture of remembrance; transform the concept of European culture of remembrance from an abstract term into a practical approach, which will be useful for future historical researches and historical education.

Legalframes of memory The aim of the conferenceis to examine the realtionshipbetween law and memory: • law as a framework of socialmemory from perspective of legitimizingcertainnorms, values, and visions of the past, • toward developing a framework of grassrootssociaslactivitywhereinindividuals and groupspromotecertaininterests and historicalnarratives, • the waylegaldiscoursemerges with otheraspects of social life, includingconcepts of justicedefined in the works of historians, media and culturaltexts.
LegalFrames of Memory The subjects of the conferenceinclude, but are not limited to: • retributivejustice, i.e.: trials, decommunization and vetting; • restorativejustice, i.e., rehabilitation of politicalprisoners, restitution of nationalizedproperty, compensation; • institutes of nationalremembrance and the issue of access to the files of the communistsecurityapparatus; • representations of concepts of justice in historicalwork, media orculturaltexts.
