  1. Lithium! Georgie Hasrouni

  2. Lithium Contains • 3 protons • 3 electrons • 4 neutrons • 1 nucleus Dividing Lithium!

  3. Lithium lies in group 1A, in Period #2, and is part of the Alkali metals. Because lithium has only one valence electron it is highly reactive. The other Alkali metals are Sodium, Cesium, Potassium, Rubidium, and Francium. Lithium’s Family

  4. Discovory Lithium was discovered way back in the year 1817. Johan Arfwedson, a Swedish chemist who was the brilliant man who had discovered lithium. Johan

  5. Lithium is a very interesting element on the periodic table, because its so interesting there is are tons of facts I can give you. For instance, Lithium’s Electron arrangement/ configuration in the atom is; 1s^2 2s^1 or [He] 2s^1. Lithiums oxidation number is Li20. It has 7 isotopes, and its density is .53 g/cm^3. Lithium’s heat of fusion and heat of vaporization is 3.00 KJ mol^-1 and 147.11 KJ moH. About Lithium

  6. Lithium is a metal with shiny silvery white color. At room temperature lithium is a solid. Lithium’s texture is like hard clay that a knife could cut. Lithium’s Physical Appearance

  7. Lithium's Cost Lithium’s price can vary if it is pure or in a bulk form. At a pure state, lithium costs $27 per 100g. In a bulk form lithium costs $9.50 per 100g.

  8. Used to make rechargeable batteries • Used as a mood stabilizing drug • Lithium chloride and bromide as disinfectants • Lithium stearate is used as an all purpose lubricant. Lithium’s Many uses

  9. Lithium is the only alkali metal that reacts with nitrogen • 1,347*c boiling point • Atomic radius: 145 pm • 180.54*c melting point • Found in small amounts in ores from igneous rocks and in salts from mineral springs • Pure lithium metal is produced by electrolysis from a mixture of fused (molten) lithium chloride and potassium chloride. • Lithium got its name from the Greek word 'lithos,' meaning, 'stone.' • Lithium is believed to be one of only three elements, the others are hydrogen and helium to be produced in significant numbers by the Big Bang. • Lithium batteries have high energy density. • When placed in water, lithium’s reactions can make a flame. 10 FUN FACTS

  10. Periodic Table facts Copper, gold, lead, silver, and iron were the first elements discovered. They where discovered between the years 6,000 B.C. through 4,000 B.C. The first periodic table was made and published in 1869 by Dmitri Mendeleev. The first modern periodic table was created in 1945 by Glenn T. Seaborg. Blank spaces where left in the periodic table for new and undiscovered elements to be found.
