SO Get Into It- Aims To help children show more understanding and respect for people with learning disabilities. To inform them about learning disability and Special Olympics Ireland To promote activities, games and sports for inclusion. To celebrate Ability Similarity Personality Individuality
Training Programme Aim: To develop and provide effective training, at the appropriate time and according to best practice, for all volunteers, staff and athletes. Activities Training Strategy and Plan Design of training materials/courses Partnerships with external organisations E-Learning development Certification review Maintenance of volunteer training records
Club Support & Development- Aims Address the needs/challenges faced by Clubs, for example to: Improve their Special Olympics programmes Integrate with their local community Secure resources for their group Address gaps in knowledge of how the programme is working at local level Achieve and maintain a consistent, high quality standard in local programmes

Why Have a Family Support Programme? Encourages families to support their athlete in training and competition Ensures that family members are involved family views and ideas are represented families can give support to each other families share their experiences and knowledge there is 2-way communication between Special Olympics and family members
Family Support Programme - Activities Families Committee Families social activities Family Centres/hospitality at Games Support for family members and friends who wish to travel to international events Communicate to family members about advancement and selection procedures and other relevant Special Olympics policies and procedures
Athlete Leadership Programme (ALPs) Offers opportunities to athletes outside of sports training and competition Equips athletes with the skills to take on more challenging roles - be a spokesperson, coach, official, or volunteer - become a member of a committee - get involved in media & communication Athletes must be over 16yrs Athletes work with a mentor ALPs Award Scheme
