GeoGebra in Norway • Norway holds the world recordin hits per capita at www.geogebra.org • Reasons for the popularity: • GeoGebra is free, user friendly, and very good • Translated to Norwegian by Sigbjørn Hals since 2006 • Digital literacy is regarded as one of five basicskills in the national curriculum since 2006 • GeoGebra is used and supported by the main textbooks for the Norwegian upper secondary school

Current activities • Teacher training offered by Universities,University Colleges, publishing houses,and others on a commercial basis. • Nearly no activity at the Norwegian GeoGebraWiki • Some teachers and teacher educators sharetheir GeoGebra material on open web pages • No overview of material published by teachersin Learning Management Systems • Little activity at the Norwegian GeoGebra forum • No coordination of development,research, and training

Plans for a Norwegian GeoGebra Institute (NGI) • Hosted by the Norwegian Center for Mathematics Education (NCME) • Located at NTNU in Trondheim • Some funding from NCME: • Sigbjørn Hals has got a scholarship to get a Master degree in Mathematics Education. He will work part time (< 25 %) for NGI. • Tor Andersen works with ICT in mathematics education at the centre, and he will work part time (< 50 %) for NGI. • Administrative help

Further plans • Working with NCME’s network of skilled teachers, and building up their knowledge of GeoGebra. • Offer workshops for teachers,and future GeoGebra trainers • Building up a network of teacher trainers and researchers at the Norwegian Universitiesand University Colleges. • Work for further funding
