The celebrations have a number of Principal Objectives • To share the celebration of 100 years of Rotary with RI President Glen E. Estess, and support his goal to raise the profile of Rotary ~ “In Tune with the Times”. • Bringing Rotarians in Africa together in numbers never achieved in the history of our continent to celebrate 100 years of Rotary. • Showcasing Africa’s people, productivity and commitment to the greater Rotary Family of the world. • RI President Glen Estess will acknowledge our own President Thabo Mbeki with a special Rotary citation. • Acknowledging the 16 districts in Africa for their contribution to the development and growth of our richly diverse continent. • Make a contributiontowards the Rotary Foundation. Friday EveningMeet and Greet Cocktail Party at Summer PlaceAn opportunity for Rotarians to meet and interact in true Rotary Fellowship and to heara special message to the Rotarians of Africa from RI President Glen Estess and to meet with RI Foundation Trustee, Sir Andy Chande. Saturday Morning Sandton Convention Centre, Sandton An opportunity to focus an educational morning on a projects fair, and two aspects that are of paramount importance to Africa: Education & Training HIV / AIDS Celebrating a Century of Service ~ a new Century of Success
Saturday Morning/Afternoon The entire group will be entertained at Constitution Hill. A venue that represents the transition of South Africa to a true democracy - A cause embraced by Rotary Clubs in South Africa and the whole of Africa. Lunch will be served in the old fort prison. The group will be addressed by Justice Albie Sachs and then be given the 1st ever tour of the Women's prison. Celebrating a Century of Service ~ a new Century of Success
Saturday EveningCelebrating Rotary with Rotarians, our special friends and corporate guests.A formal black tie/traditional banquet where African talent and leadership will be showcased along with the diversity of its people and culture as well as a small taste of its history.VIP guests will include:The President of South Africa Mr. Thabo Mbeki. Sunday MorningInterfaith Service and Farewell Brunchto be held at the Johannesburg Technical College, Alexandra CampusThis campus is a R23 million Rotary Project A final opportunity to gather and bid our friends and visitors farewell before leaving for home across the world, or taking one of the wonderful post conference tours to discover more of the beauty of our diverse country. District 9300 Club Participation • Register for the celebrations @ R750 pp and join in all the activities: (This includes the Meet and Greet Cocktail Party, Education & Aids work sessions, the Projects Fair, the Constitution Hill tour, Gala Banquet and Interfaith Service) • Participate in the projects fair • Motivate Non-Rotarians to attend the Gala Banquet • Offer home hosting to Rotarian guests for 2 or 3 nights • Any members traveling into Africa or other districts in SA to take the brochures and spread the word Celebrating a Century of Service ~ a new Century of Success
